Decorating Holy Communion Sleeves 

It's really fun decorating Holy Communion sleeves with a Bible verse and sometime adding a simple image to bless church members who come to Sunday worship services at our serving venue.

These sleeves or pockets are made of wax paper and usually about 10cm by 10cm or 12cm by 10cm in size. 

The above image was one that was designed with a word rubber stamp and water-coloured flower. As the paper is waxy, not all ink can be used. What we find most suitable is Memento ink, a stamp pad ink from Tsukineko, Japan. It drys fast and does not bleed and is permanent so can use watercolour to brush over.

These are distributed to worshippers together with the cup and bread. Worshippers can store the used empty cups into these decorated sleeves/pockets and throw them into the dustbin after church service.

A few servers and I volunteered to decorate the Holy Comm's sleeves using handwritten encouraging scripture verses at first but writing a few hundred verses a week takes up too much time so we decided to use rubber stamps instead.

Of course, we do occasionally include handwritten notes when we couldn't find a relevant verse. Also doodling an image or two is a fun and meaningful way in decorating Holy Communion sleeves when we are free and relaxed and feeling creative. :-)

Decorating Holy Communion Sleeves For Various Occasions

Normally, we decorated these sleeves as per normal with a verse and image but for special occasion like Christmas and New Year as well as the Chinese Lunar New Year, we specially add a relevant bible verse or blessing and an image related to the occasion.
