Below are a basic list of card making tools and supplies you can start with. As you go further into this interesting and addictive craft, you will accumulate more materials. You do not need to have all of these stuff before you can start card making. Start with the minimal basics like paper, pen and colour pencils and start design some beautiful card designs.

  • Cardstock
  • Stickers
  • Some rubber stamps
  • Christian quotes
  • Relevant bible verses
  • Black pigment ink pad
  • Color markers
  • Color pencils
  • Watercolor brushes
  • Glue
  • Double-sided tape
  • Scissors
  • Sharp small knife or blade for cutting paper
  • Pencil
  • Fine line pen: black should be a good color
  • Ruler
  • Trimmer


Optional Card Making Materials

  • Brads and eyelets
  • Ribbons
  • Embossing powders
  • Pigment ink pads in various colors
  • Heat gun
  • Die cut machine
  • Punches
  • Decorative scissors
  • Scrapbooking embellishments: rub ons, tags, unique stickers, silk or paper flowers, etc.
  • Scrapbooking paper: you can find beautiful designer paper in your local scrapbook stores.
  • Computer fonts: lots of free fonts available in the internet.
  • Cliparts: search the web for free cliparts.
  • More rubber stamps: you can also look for Christian rubber stamps.


Above are just some of the many card making materials that you will need for making some Christian greeting cards.

Again I will caution you not to rush out and buy all of them. Just start with the basic list of essential materials and from there buy only when you need.

Just buy what you need and even then, think twice whether that item is worth spending your money on.

Is there any way you can do without it?

Most card crafters end up with lots of expensive equipments that are used once or twice. Myself included ;-)

Some even have cardmaking supplies that have never been used at all.

Remember your objectives for making your own homemade cards is to send it out, bring cheer and minister to someone.

Don't have any rubber stamp?
You can easily create greetings, bible verses or other wordings on a Word document and print them out onto white card-stock.
